Last month, I shared pictures from my best friend’s bridal shower in Dallas. On Sunday, we threw her a smaller shower for New York friends. I spent a lot of time over the past couple of months planning and shopping to make my vision come to life. I used the wedding colors, blush and gold, to tie everything together, and focused on the bride’s favorite things. On the menu: brunch foods, including homemade mini donuts and French Toast casserole, plus fruit salad and a breakfast taco buffet. A mimosa bar was a must, and super easy to put together! We did a couple of craft projects, and some wedding-themed Mad Libs while we listened to the Spice Girls Pandora station. All in all it was a great afternoon, and well worth the effort!

Weddings are expensive, especially when you’re in the wedding party, so it’s important to keep budget in mind. Most of the supplies for this party came from four places: Target, the dollar store, Party City and Michaels. We didn’t use any “real” dishes, silverware, pitchers, or tablecloths, but it still looked classy and put together. I looked for coupons, and used Ebates when I shopped online. I also made sure to keep my receipts so I could return things we didn’t end up using. This shower is proof that it’s totally possible to put together a beautiful event without spending a ton of money.
