Have you heard of hygge? It’s a Danish concept centered around cultivating coziness, well-being, and contentment with the everyday, especially at home. In honor of the launch of their new Belgian linen bedding collection, Crane & Canopy asked me to share my ideas for a hygge-inspired home.
When in comes to my home, I’m all about creating a place where I can be comfortable and relaxed. I stick to a neutral color palette with furniture and most of the decor, adding in pops of color with art and fun decorative accents. (I love Target and H&M Home for affordable options!)
My bed and couch are made for snuggling, and a perfect afternoon is cozying up under the covers with a good book. Unfortunately, my husband isn’t so on board with accent pillows and coordinated bedding, but I’m working on him, and new sheets are definitely on my wish list!
I also love having plants and flowers in our apartment, especially from Trader Joe’s. Succulents are a favorite of mine too, and there’s a great little stand at the Union Square Greenmarket that has so many cute ones.
Wherever you live, your home should be your sanctuary, a welcoming space that you’re happy to return to after a long day. Make it yours with personal touches and cozy corners, and find a color palette that looks and feels good for you.
