We spent a few days last week celebrating Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) with my family on Long Island, and I wore this new dress in the prettiest fall floral for the first day. My dad is a rabbi, so I’ve spent a lot of time at temple over the years. He retired a few years ago, and it’s been really nice to be able to sit with him at services, instead of watching him lead them! I mentioned in my birthday post that I was starting a new job, and I’m actually running social media for the seminary he attended. They train Reform Jewish rabbis, cantors, educators and non-profit professionals, and I have quite a few friends and family members who are products of their programs. They’ve never had anyone dedicated to social media before, so it’s a really exciting opportunity to tell the story of something I’m passionate about!
But, back to my outfit! I picked up this dress at J.Crew Factory when we were in Maine, and I love the darker floral pattern that’s perfect for the change in seasons. I have to confess that I thought there was black in the dress somewhere, so I brought black accessories with me…and then I realized it was actually navy. Oops! Fortunately, black goes with everything, so I think it works anyway. I know this dress will be on repeat into fall and winter because it’s perfect for work too, and will look great with tights and booties. Of course, it’s still in the 80s this week, so we’re pretty far from tights weather!
One more thing: real talk…I’m totally wearing SPANX under this dress! I needed a little smoothing, and I recently discovered this lightweight version that doesn’t feel like shapewear. There’s no shame in getting some extra help to make sure you feel good in what you’re wearing, but that doesn’t mean you have to feel like you’re wearing a girdle!
