Fashionable flats for me are a must!  I actually wear both heels and flats almost every single day.  I wear flats to and from work, and put heels on once I get to the office.  My weekends and evenings consist of a lot of walking and shopping which definitely also requires cute flats!  Plus, living in Toronto, the weather is always changing, so fun rainy and snowy day flats are essential.
