S is for Saturday, Sunday…and Sam! When I saw Cathy wearing this sweatshirt a couple of months ago, I was in love…but, at $98, it wasn’t happening. Then, when Kate Spade announced they were shutting down their Saturday line, everything went on sale, and it was a totally justifyable purchase.
To be honest, I’m not entirely surprised that Saturday folded. Although the fun, classic asthetic was totally different than Kate Spade’s sophisticated, girly one, the prices weren’t that much lower and the sales were never that great. Kate Spade is my weakness, and they are pricey, but the quality is so high that it’s worth the investment. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities to find “past season” items for less: factory stores, surprise sales, and discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. (ex. these loafers that I found at TJs!) I’m definitely interested to see how KS integrates the Saturday vibes into their future collections.
