Winter Coat

I’m back with my first post of 2017, a snow day look in my winter coat! To be honest, I’ve been struggling a bit with the start of the year. I decided that instead of a resolution, I’m going to focus on the mantra “you are enough,” and I’m really trying to invest in that as much as I can. We’re headed on vacation two weeks from today and I’m literally counting down the days. I think I really need to get out of the city for a couple of weeks and hit the refresh button, and being near the ocean is always good for the soul.

We had our first snow storm of the season over the weekend and I busted out all of my winter essentials. I bought this winter coat last year at Macy’s, after an exhaustive search. Before that, I had the same Michael Kors one that my mom found at Costco years ago. It served me well, but it was definitely time for an update. I love that this coat is lightweight, but still super warm. It’s long, so I’m well covered, and it has a great hood.

This was also the first time that I wore my new Sorel boots. I’ve been coveting all of the boots from the Sorel x J.Crew collab for a long time, so I was really excited to see a few pairs at the J.Crew Sample Sale a couple of months ago. These boots are taller than my previous pair, but they’re perfect for the crazy snow drifts and deep slush puddles we get in the city.

I won’t lie, taking these photos was a bit challenging since the snow was coming down fast, but I just love how the light reflects. Cute accessories and a bright lip definitely help dealing with the cold, and when I’m walking the dog, I can’t live without convertible mittens (aka glittens) that give me easy access to my fingers without freezing.

Hat: Club Monaco (similar), Lip Color: MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil in Anything Goes, Coat: Macy’s, Glittens: Urban Outfitters, Jeans: J.Crew, Boots: Sorel for J.Crew (more affordable option)

What pretty snow! We haven’t gotten any in my part of Kansas which has been a real bummer! A good winter coat is definitely a MUST for those kinds of temps!

    • It didn’t feel as pretty as it looked lol, but it was fun to have our first storm. Definitely glad to have this coat!

  2. I love the coat. This winter, I decided I need to buy a long puffer boat – something that covers my butt!
