A More Polished Life

Pepper Brunch NYCOn Sunday, I went to the first ever Pepper Brunch, hosted by my friend Jessie of Style & Pepper. It was the perfect way to kick off 2015 and figure out how I want to approach the new year. One of the key points that really stuck with me was focusing on adding in good things, instead of taking out the bad. I’m not really one for resolutions, but I like to set goals for myself and make a point of regularly taking a step back to reassess. For this year, I want to be more polished in all aspects of my life. That means investing in myself and putting in the time and effort to take everything to a higher level.

For the blog, that means learning to use my new lens and creating more quality content, as well as taking advantage of online resources to figure out how to reach people more effectively, and making things prettier and easier to navigate. I want to work with more bloggers and brands who share my values, and make more of an effort to meet face-to-face.

Since we recently renewed our lease for two more years, I’m working on making our apartment more adult and put together. The most recent addition was a new bar cart that we got just in time for New Year’s Eve, and I’m looking at tons of art and fun accents on Etsy. More pictures soon, I promise.

At work, being more polished means having more confidence in my skills and knowledge. I’m staffing a booth and giving a presentation at a conference in March, both things that are far outside my introvert comfort zone, but that I know I can totally rock.

I also want to be more polished on the outside, because I know it will help me feel more confident on the inside. Things like mastering my frizz-prone hair, taking more time with my makeup, and focusing in on my style perspective will go a long way. Like most people, I want to improve my fitness too. It’s been a challenge to balance everything since I went back to work, but I’m finally at a job that I love, so it’s totally worth it.

Overall, I’m really looking forward to 2015 and I think it’s going to be a great year. What are your plans, ambitions, goals, resolutions? I would love to hear them!
