New Beauty Products

One of the best parts of the Lucky FABB conference was being introduced to new brands and products. There were so many goodies in the swag bag, that I’m just getting around to trying some of them now. I’ve actually really enjoyed these three, so I wanted to share them with you. Let me just preface these reviews by saying that I’m generally a drugstore beauty girl, but I do believe that (just like a great handbag) some products are worth a higher price tag.

Carol’s Daughter Monoi Anti-Breakage Spray: I have fine hair that’s prone to breakage, so I was definitely excited to swap out my normal leave-in conditioner for this one. It has a nice scent, is made up of natural ingredients, and I really have noticed a difference in the strength of my hair. Even though oil is one of the main ingredients, it doesn’t make your hair feel heavy or greasy. Definitely recommended.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: I haven’t been on a warm weather vacation in two years (depressing, I know), so my skin is totally pale and pasty. I’m not big into tanning or bronzer, but I do like to encourage a little glow when I can. So, I worked these facial radiance pads into my morning skincare routine. I like that they are gently exfoliating and don’t immediately dry out your skin. I’m not sure that the glow is so noticeable, but they definitely make me feel refreshed and help my skin look a little less dull.

Bliss grapefruit + aloe body butter: My winter skin is dry skin, so it’s absolutely essential that I apply an effective, long-lasting moisturizer immediately after showering. Bliss certainly knows how to create a great product, and this body butter is no exception. It smells nice and fruity, contains aloe, and a little goes a long way. My only complaint is that it doesn’t always keep me completely itch-free from day to day.

Now, lest you think that I will only share positive reviews, I have to tell you about a product that really disappointed me. I got the Nail Rock Velvet Manicure set in my January Birchbox, and I was very excited to try it out. You paint your nails with the base color (which I actually love and will use again), and then dip wet nails in a powdery substance. Soon you will find that your nails have become furry and kind of resemble those of muppets. As if the strange texture is not enough, the whole thing chips within hours and you find furry bits around your house for days. I love the idea of textured manicures, and I would love to try the sequin and glitter versions of this product, but the velvet fell short for me.

What new beauty products have you tried lately?

Disclosure: Products were gifted to me as an attendee of Lucky FABB, but this is not a sponsored post, and all opinions are my own.

Ohhhh I might have to give that leave in conditioner a try! I’m trying to grow my hair out as quickly as humanely possible.
