The Friday before Thanksgiving, I had the opportunity to be part of a blogger focus group at Birchbox’s Soho store. We sat down with Nicole, one of the founders of LAQA & Co., to talk about current products and plans for the future. LAQA & Co. is a Brooklyn-based company that specializes in easy-to-apply nail polish and jumbo lip gloss pencils. The best part? The packaging is almost as fabulous as the products! LAQA works with young artists, showcasing their work on every box. Artists get much-needed exposure and a share of the profits. So cool!
Back to the makeup…I first heard of LAQA & Co. when I received one of their Fat Lip Pencils in a recent Birchbox. Although the color I got wasn’t for me, I loved the lip gloss consistency in pencil form. Plus, it smelled great and left my lips moisturized. After the focus group, I got to take home the Fat Lip Pencil Fiver, and it’s been so fun to try every shade. I can’t wait to play with the nail polish too, especially this Dual Tip Tuxedo Manicure Pen!
Nicole showed us a selection of lip and nail colors that they’re considering for next year, and let us try them on. My favorites were the sparkly polishes and (surprisingly) the deep red lip colors. I was a little skeptical about the Easter egg pastel nail colors, but there were so many pretty shades. I also love that even the matte lip colors feel good on your lips, thanks to a combination of oils and Vitamin E.
