Floral Striped Dress

I was planning to share this floral striped dress with you yesterday…but then I got sick. From Thursday through Sunday, I was on overdrive, and when I finally stopped on Sunday night, I realized that I felt terrible. Yesterday, I woke up with a sore throat, and there was snow falling outside. I was tempted to go to the office anyway, but I made myself stay home. I did some work off and on, but mostly, I relaxed. I spent most of the day in bed, and let me tell you, it was glorious. The truth is that I’m really bad at taking care of myself when I don’t feel well. Fortunately, I don’t get sick often, but when I do, I’m still hesitant to take time off and just let myself recharge. The truth is that it’s not just better for me, but for everyone, if I don’t push myself too much. But, it’s one thing to know that and another to put it into practice. I just need to remember that I took care of myself today and the world didn’t end! How do you work on self-care? Let me know in the comments!

So, about this weekend. On Thursday, I had a long, busy day for work. Friday, we went to my in-laws for Passover, stayed over and came back Saturday morning…only to unpack and re-pack, and head to my dad’s for more Passover. We came back to the city on Sunday, had a few hours, during which I baked so we had things to eat this week, and then we went to see my cousin’s band play for the first time in three years. It was amazing having so much family time, and I’m SO grateful that we live near all of our parents…but man, it was exhausting! I’m honestly not surprised my body decided it had enough. In the midst of the crazy on Saturday, I had a hard time figuring out what to wear. The first outfit I tried on didn’t look right, so I put on this dress. I LOVED how it looked…but then I realized that it had a hole in the side (even though this was my first time wearing it). At that point, we were running late, so I decided to just wear it and fix it on the train. Definitely not one of my finer moments, but I made it work! And, I love this floral striped dress. It’s built-in pattern mixing, and such a flattering silhouette for my curves. It’s totally work-appropriate too, so it will definitely be on heavy rotation this spring. The weather was pretty nice, so all I needed was a light bomber jacket and some sheer tights. These floral tights are my go-to, but let’s be real, I’m ready for bare legs!
