Wear: You don’t have to wear stars and stripes to show your USA pride on the 4th. Denim counts as blue, and it’s okay if your only red is on your lips. I seem to gravitate towards blue and white striped dresses on Americana-themed holidays, but I also love the idea of white shorts and a tee.
Eat: I’m a dessert girl, so I have to tell you about a super easy cookie creation. They’re called mini fruit pizzas, and I made them after seeing this pin. Instead of following the directions and making my own cookies and frosting, I saved time by buying them. The fruit on top allows you to incorporate the colors of the flag, and feel a little better about indulging your sweet tooth. If you want to be more ambitious, there are also tons of recipes on Pinterest for 4th of July cupcakes and cakes. P.S. It should go without saying that if you have access to a grill, you should be using it this weekend.
Drink: I made a variation of this Peach Prosecco Punch last 4th of July, and it was a major hit! Serving over raspberries and blueberries makes it refreshing and patriotic! For the under 21 crowd, try a fancy lemonade recipe.
Do: Plan a picnic! I love this picnic food guide from TimeOut New York. For me, the best picnic menus are a combination of prepared and homemade selections. Fruit is a must, and it’s always fun to bring a little bubbly. (PSA: Lands End has the cutest wine totes on sale! There are insulated and multi-bottle options, AND you can get them monogrammed. You’re welcome.)
Make: Decorating for a 4th of July party is one of the best parts of the holiday. The DIY options are endless, so get your creative juices flowing! Since it’s the week of, and you might not have tons of time, look for easier projects or recruit some friends. Once again, Pinterest is a goldmine.
