Petite-Friendly Maxi Dresses

You know what’s frustrating about being petite? Always bringing pants and dresses to the tailor before you can wear them! Fortunately, petite departments are growing, and the variety of options online for shorter women is definitely increasing. When maxi dresses started showing up in stores a couple of years ago, it was all but impossible to find one with a shorter hemline. Now, there are plenty of great choices, and although some of them are only available online in petite sizes, at least the inventory exists.

My #1 tip for the maxi dress, whether you’re short or tall: find one with a defined waistband to avoid looking like you’re wearing a nightgown (or a sack). When in doubt, add a belt for extra definition.

  1. I worship at the altar of maxi dresses and I totally agree with your tips. A defined waist is so, so key 🙂

    • Thanks, Brenna! I think I only have one right now, which definitely needs to be changed. That Old Navy dress is calling my name 🙂
