Back with the first real outfit post in forever, and I’m excited to share the perfect special occasion dress! This sassy little black dress is what I wore to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary this weekend. It was also our first night out since Seth was born. I was already nervous about leaving him, and then we had to get him a Covid test at the last minute on Saturday morning. One of the vaccinated teachers at daycare tested positive, so they’re requiring all of the kids to get tested. Fortunately, Seth’s rapid test came back negative, and my in-laws were able to watch him.
For a long time, I dreamed about having a party for our tenth anniversary. There are so many people who are such a pivotal part of our life now that we didn’t know then. But, the pandemic + a three month old meant that wasn’t going to happen. Dinner out was the new goal, but didn’t want to go too far for the first time we left Seth with someone else. So we stayed local, with dinner at a nearby restaurant called Sistina, and then drinks at The Mark. We missed Seth, but it was so nice to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company.
When I was thinking about what to wear, I decided the occasion called for a new dress. I loved this one, but didn’t realize how form-fitting it was until it arrived. I almost returned it, and I even ordered a backup. It’s weird to wear tighter clothes on my postpartum body after dressing the bump for so long. But, I’m really trying to appreciate and embrace my body. After some initial self-consciousness, I just owned it, and I felt good! Plus, a special occasion is the perfect time to push yourself outside your comfort zone!
