This weekend, winter was all about showing us that it’s no joke with bitter cold and crazy winds. First world problem, but it’s really hard to motivate yourself to put together a cute outfit when you’re worried about freezing your butt off as soon as you go outside! That’s why it definitely helps to have a statement coat in a bold color that will make any look stand out. I found this gorgeous purple coat at TJ Maxx or Marshalls a couple of years ago, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve worn it. If you haven’t noticed, I tend to opt for neutrals, especially when it comes to things like outerwear and accessories that I expect to be super versatile. But, with a colorful coat, you can wear an otherwise neutral outfit and it all balances out. For this look, I chose black jeans, boots, hat and gloves, and paired all of that with my coziest cream turtleneck.
We tried to stay inside as much as possible over the weekend, except for necessary errands and dog walks, but on Saturday night, we met some friends at a new neighborhood bar. It’s a speakeasy, hidden in the back of an ice cream shop, and the cocktail menu features some of their ice creams and sorbets. The bar has such a cool vibe, and it plays off the location, with plenty of nods to New York City and the Upper East Side in particular. Check out my Instagram story highlights to get a look inside! And, if you’re planning a trip to NYC, you can find some my favorite places in my New York City guide!

That color is to die for – & I say that as someone who almost never wears colors!
Hahah, secret bars sound so fun, especially with an ice cream theme!
Love the bold colored coat, having some bright fun outerwear and definitely help in the winter when you feel like everyone else is just a sea of black.
