Hi! Remember me? Apologies for the radio silence over here the past couple of weeks! As I mentioned in one of my last posts, I was heading into a weeklong work conference and things were just crazy busy. I’m mostly recovered, but still catching up on life and trying to make sure all of my holiday shopping gets done (especially since Hanukkah already started!) I finally put an outfit together yesterday, and of course it was frigidly cold. But, I just couldn’t wait any longer to wear this velvet midi skirt that I got from a Nordstrom sale earlier this year. Velvet is totally on-trend right now, and perfect for the holidays! This outfit would totally work for a party too, and I’ll definitely be wearing the skirt again over the next few weeks. By the way, pleated midi skirts are super flattering and versatile, and I definitely recommend them for my fellow pear-shaped ladies!
Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I love Christmas decorations, and it’s so fun to see how the city dresses up for the holiday season! I like to walk around different neighborhoods and see which homes and businesses opt for simple, classy looks, and which ones go all out with all of the colors and inflatables. I grew up in New England, where white lights and candles in the windows are the go-to, but when I moved to Long Island, it was no holds barred. How do people decorate where you live?
Earrings: Kate Spade, Sunnies: Kate Spade via Nordstrom Rack (similar), Turtleneck: Who What Wear x Target (similar), Necklace: Avon (almost identical), Skirt: Nordstrom (almost identical, another option) Tights: J.Crew, Booties: Franco Sarto, Gloves: J.Crew Factory
Classy light displays in CT are definitely being replaced by blow up santas and laser lights… but to me the prettiest displays are often just the homes with a candle in every window.
I love all the velvet pieces I’ve been seeing lately, and this skirt is so pretty on you!

OK, I don’t do velvet, but this whole outfit looks so pretty on you! Very classic/classy.
