One of the days we were in California, we spent the day in Venice. We did some shopping, had lunch at a cute little place Kat had posted about, and then headed to the beach. Venice is definitely an eclectic community, and the boardwalk reminded me a bit of the Jersey Shore. The beach wasn’t very crowded and it was nice to dip our feet in the ocean. I wore the most flattering one piece from Aerie. It actually really surprised me because it doesn’t have the usual ruched or wrapped waist that I tend to go for, and the “cheeky” style exposes a lot more tush than I’m usually willing to share. But, as I shared on Instagram, this was the most confident I’ve felt in a bathing suit in a long time. Even my back, which I’m usually very self-conscious about, looked good in this suit, and I wasn’t nervous at all snapping these pictures. I think it just goes to show that you should wear what makes you feel good. Sure, there are “types” of bathing suits that are recommended for curvy women, but that doesn’t mean those are the only ones you can wear. Don’t be afraid to try on different styles. You never know what you’re going to love!
As I’ve shared before, I really love Aerie, and how much they embrace women of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and abilities. They encourage self-love in their stores and on social media, and they shine the spotlight on REAL women who wear their products. This post isn’t sponsored (although it would be a dream to partner with them), I just think it’s important to support brands who support all women because but we need more of them. Summer’s not over yet, so I challenge you to try on a swimsuit you didn’t think you could wear. Let me know how it goes!
